Cesa, Doris J., age 92, of Hawthorne, on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Born in Paterson, Doris was a 1950 graduate of an all-girls roman catholic high school, Benedictine Academy in Paterson. In 1965, she became a resident of Hawthorne. A dedicated homemaker, Doris also worked for several years as a lunch aide at the Washington Elementary School in Hawthorne. She was a proud supporter of Hawthorne High School where she rooted for the school’s football team and attended theater productions. In her spare time, Doris enjoyed watching football and was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants, attending her first game at a young age in 1940. Later, she began rooting for the Notre Dame College Football team. Doris was also an avid movie buff, especially from eras in the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s.
Doris J. Cesa was the beloved wife of the late James Cesa (2007). Loving mother of Stanley Cesa and his wife Maryann of Pompton Plains, Wayne Cesa and his wife Iris of Hawthorne, Glenn Cesa and his wife Karen of Leland, NC, and Jamie Cesa and his husband Joseph Schmaderer of New York City. Grandmother of Nicole Morley and her husband Greg, Rebecca Cesa and her husband Christopher Elliott, James Cesa, Lia Zalvin and her husband Michael, Kip Cesa, Scotti Cesa, and Michael Cesa. Great grandmother of Leo, Lana, Glenn, and Ezra.
Funeral will be departing at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne for a 10:30am funeral mass at St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Prospect Park. Entombment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum in Totowa. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
