Florida - Barbara Jean Guzan, 88, lovingly known as “Gram,” passed away on January 3, 2026, with her family by her side.
She was born on April 21, 1937, in Emporium, Pennsylvania. Barbara Moved with her family to Warren, Ohio as a young child and spent much of her life there. Most recently, Barb resided in Sarasota, Florida.
Barbara was devoted to her family above all else. A full-time mother and the steady heart of her home, she lived with strength, humor, and quiet perseverance through both good and difficult times. She worked hard every day and was known for thinking of others before herself. Her love for her grandchildren was especially deep, and she took great joy in caring for the people she loved most.
Barbara felt most at home in the kitchen, where she expressed love through cooking and creating meals for her family. She also cherished life’s simple comforts—morning coffee and bagels, a cold glass of Pepsi, and the companionship of animals. Her sense of humor, faithful love, and enduring devotion to her family will remain a lasting legacy.
Barbara is survived by her son, Richard Guzan and his wife, Kimberly Guzan; her sister, Mary VanHorn and her husband, Harmon VanHorn; and her grandchildren: Patrick Guzan and his wife, Rachel Guzan; Richard Guzan; Jonathon Guzan and his wife, Emily Guzan; Katelyn Snead and her husband, Thomas Snead Jr.; and Thomas Guzan. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Emerson Guzan (daughter of Patrick and Rachel) and Stevie Guzan (daughter of Jonathon and Emily).
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen Guzan; her sister, Cathy Berka; and her brother, John Cerar.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday morning, January 14, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren.
There will be a prayer service held on Wednesday at 10:20 a.m. followed by a Requiem Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Chapel in Vienna, Ohio.
Burial will take place afterward at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio.
