Willie Devan Bond Obituary

On Thursday, January 8, 2026, in his infinite wisdom, God called His faithful servant home. Willie Devan Bond was born on November 2nd 1953, to the late Willie Bond and Mattie Mary Bond. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nepoulian Bond and Willie B. Bond, and three sisters, Diana Bond Martin, Kathy McBride, and Rosa Bell Shaw.

At an early age, Willie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Denmark Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Usher Board and Male Chorus. He was ordained as a Deacon on January 14, 2007, and served as Mission Fund Chairman, Budget Committee Chairman, Scholarship Committee Chairman, Father’s Day Program Chairman, and member of the Bereavement Ministry.

Willie attended the Jackson-Madison County School System and graduated from West High School, Class of 1971. His career began at Procter & Gamble, followed by James River Corporation, and concluded with his retirement from Printpack after 37 years of dedicated leadership. In his leisure time, he especially enjoyed golfing. Willie was united in marriage to Doris Pulliam of Denmark, Tennessee, and to this union three children were born.

Willie met his future wife, and love of his life Brenda Bond in 2000; they would proceed to get married June 14th, 2003. They enjoyed 20+ years of joyful marriage.

Willie D. Bond, having sought light, was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in 1976 as a member of Jackson Lodge #72. In his continued pursuit of Masonic excellence, he later demitted to McKinley Lodge #117, where he labored faithfully and rose through the ranks as a trusted source of knowledge, strength, and support among the Craft. He was elected Worshipful Master and later appointed Grand District Lecturer. At the time he laid down the working tools of life, he was honorably serving as Grand Sword Bearer.

He further advanced his Masonic journey by being elevated to the rank and title of Grand Inspector General; the Thirty Third and “last degree” of the Masonic Institution, in recognition of his devotion to Masonic ideals and his demonstrated excellence in service to the fraternity and the community. Extending his devotion beyond the Blue House and the United Supreme Council, 33°, he entered the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of North and South America and Its Jurisdiction, Inc., in 1976 as a member of Zarah Temple #151. There, his steadfast commitment, distinguished leadership, and unwavering service quickly became evident. He advanced through the ranks and was elected Illustrious Potentate in 1985. He continued to labor faithfully for his Temple, the Desert, and the entire Domain, ever exemplifying the principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth.

He also served as a precinct officer of Ward 4, Milan Tennessee.

May his memory remain eternal among us.

In 2006, he was appointed Deputy of the Oasis of Jackson, Tennessee a sacred trust he executed with honor and fidelity until 2023. He was a Lifetime Member of Zarah Temple and was bestowed the honor of Honorary Past Imperial Potentate. He was also an Honorary Member of Moolah Temple #54.

Today, we honor a faithful servant who has answered the final summons and ascended from labor to refreshment. His life stands as a shining testament to dedication, humility, leadership, and service. Though his earthly labors have ceased, his light continues to shine in the hearts and lives of the brethren whose paths he guided and whose lives he uplifted.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Brenda; sons, Anthony of Jackson, Tennessee, Brian of Madison Wisconsin, and Nigel (Erica), of Cordova, Tennessee; Daughters in Love, Markina Word (Joe) of Milan, Tennessee and Calandra Allen (Darrius) of Antioch, Tennessee; brothers, James Weddle of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Robert Bond (Wilma) of St. Louis, Missouri; Sister/Niece Joyce Barnett of Jackson, Tennessee; Niece Aretha Carter of Jackson, Tennessee, Sister in Love Lisa Jenkins (Gary) of Jackson, Tennessee and grandchildren: Amira Bond and Holden Bond of Jackson, Tennessee; Thairique Bond and Brianna Bond of Mustang, Oklahoma; Isabella Bond and Jasmine Bond of Madison, Wisconsin; Seth Roberson of Milan, Tennessee; Saniya Allen of Frisco, Texas; and Darrius Allen Jr. of Antioch, Tennessee. Willie also leaves behind to cherish his memory several loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends from near and far.

Willie will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering commitment, dedication, and genuine love for all who knew him. If you knew him, you knew the humor he was capable of producing. He never met a stranger and could have a battle of wits with the best of them.
