Jose Orlando Brazao Obituary

Barrington - With a heart full of cherished memories, we honor the life of Jose O. Brazao, who passed away peacefully at his home in Barrington, RI, on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Born on May 18, 1938, in the beautiful city of Funchal, Portugal, Jose's journey was one marked by love, dedication, and a remarkable knack for making the world around him a better place.

Jose was the beloved husband of the late Elizabete Fatima Gomes (Correia) Brazao, and the cherished son of the late Albano and Maria E. (Freitas) Brazao. His legacy of love and strength lives on through his devoted daughters, Linda Ferreira and her husband Joe of Barrington, and Genevieve Pike of Coventry. Jose's wisdom, laughter, and guiding hand will forever be missed by his grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Nina, Michelle and her husband Jaime, Jacob, and Joshua, as well as his great-grandchildren Eva, Bryce, Lincoln, Amber, and James, who brought him immeasurable joy.

Jose's life was enriched by the close bond he shared with Ana Bocian, her husband Joseph, and their children Joseph and Jason. Each family gathering was a testament to the unity and warmth he fostered within his family. He has lived in Barrington for over 6 years coming from East Providence.

Professionally, Jose dedicated many years of service as an assembler and polisher at Leach and Gardner Jewelry Manufacturing. His meticulous work and steadfast commitment were hallmarks of his character both in and out of the workplace.

Jose's interests painted the picture of a man deeply connected to his roots and to the simple pleasures of life. He relished his trips back to Portugal, embracing the culture and landscapes of his birthplace. An avid reader, he found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. His mornings often began with a visit to Dunkin Donuts, a routine that was less about the coffee and more about the community and familiarity it brought to his day.

As a self-taught carpenter, Jose was always ready to lend a hand or fix what was broken. He approached each project, whether it was a demolition or a delicate repair, with the same loving care he showed to his family. His grandchildren fondly remember the times spent learning from their grandfather, as he turned each task into a lesson on life and love.

To describe Jose as loving, kind, and handy is to capture just a glimpse of the man he was. His unwavering kindness touched the lives of those around him, and his ability to fix more than just things—a bad day, a sad mood, or a family mishap—made him the cornerstone of his family.

Jose O. Brazao's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the impact one person can have on so many. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we carry forward the lessons he taught through his example: to cherish family, to face each day with a smile, and to never underestimate the value of a helping hand. Jose's memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of all who knew him.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12,2026 at 12:00 noon in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
