Joe Hughes Obituary
Mr. Joe Hughes age 85 of South Carthage departed this earthy life at 12:55 a.m. Thursday morning January 8, 2026 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where he had made his home since July 8, 2025.
Mr. Hughes is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday afternoon January 9th at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Carthage. Burial will follow in section five.
He was born William Joe Hughes at the family home in Mount Juliet on January 22, 1940 and was the spon of the late Joe Henry Hughes and Thelma Gilbert Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was retired and was a sheetrock finisher by trade.
He was a graduate of Mount Juliet High School.
Mr. Hughes was of the Southern Baptist faith.
Surviving is a daughter, Melissa Hughes Joy, of the Stonewall Community; step-daughter, Debbie Zidank of Hendersonville and his caregiver, Tracy Jackson of the Hickman Community.
