EUGENE'S LIFE STORY: Eugene Hardy Russell was born to the late Mandy Russell Griffin, who preceded him in death, and Percy Rudolph, on September 9,1965, in Brent, Alabama. Peanut and Geno, as he was affectionately called, went to Bibb County High School, in Centreville, Alabama, where he graduated in 1984. After graduating high school, Geno joined the Army National
Guard in June 1984 in Centreville, Alabama. In September 1989, he joined the United States Army, as a Supply Technician and retired in July 2012. While being stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia, he was proud to have been a Paratrooper in 1997. In 1991, he graduated from Wallace State Community College with an associate degree. In May 2018, he graduated from Bethel
University, in Tennessee with a B.S. Degree in M a n a g e m e n t a n d O r g a n i z a t i o n a l Development Geno enjoyed traveling to the Russell Family Reunions yearly in different states and was extremely excited to see his family or the “Russell Clan,” as he called them and loved them dearly. Everybody knew that Football Saturdays in Alabama was his favorite pastime.
He would often say, “It is game day. Please maintain radio silence until further notice.” ROLL TIDE! He also loved watching classic movies, especially the “Wizard of Oz.” But the
greatest thing of all that Geno, loved doing and was not ashamed of, was his faith and giving God all the glory! He would post daily, humbly, and gratefully, thanking God for letting him see a brand-new day! He loved God with everything in him. Geno, leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Datella La’Shon Stacy (T’Keyah) of Centreville, Jassamyn Russell, of Denver,
Colorado, Arianna Russell of Clover, Virginia (Myra); one son, Jeremy Martin of Tuscaloosa, AL.; one sister, Synethia Griffin, of Centreville; two brothers, Michael Griffin, Jr., (Cora) of
Brent and LaRue Griffin (Alicia) of Prattville, AL; six aunts, Mattie Russell, of Brent, LenaPrince, of Centreville, Imella Sanchez, of Birmingham, Rose Saxton (Aaron) of Birmingham, Evelean Russell, of Hempstead, New York, and Oneal James, (Alfred), of Brent; five uncles, Charlie Russell, Jr., (Carol) of Brent, Clemmie Russell, of Brent, Joe Russell, of Brent, Leroy Russell (Mary), of
Brent and Johnny Russell, of Brent, AL; two granddaughters, Katelyn Martin and Alaysia Shelton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and many other
relatives and friends who will miss him.
