Jeanette C (Grubb) Alm Obituary

Jeanette C. Alm, 90, of Andover, passed away peacefully at Andover Manor, surrounded by her loving family on January 3, 2026.
Jeanette was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late John and Irma (Dorety) Grubb. She attended Swampscott High School, graduating in 1952, where she was an outstanding student and athlete. Jeanette excelled in basketball, hockey, softball, and volleyball and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. She also played the saxophone in the school band and taught a Bible study program at the Congregational Church she attended.

Jeanette went on to attend Northeastern University, earning a degree in Chemistry in 1957. During her college years, she made the freshman honor list and the Dean’s List in her sophomore, junior, senior, and fifth years. She was a member of the rifle team, a champion marksman, and a starter on the varsity basketball team.
She began her professional career as a chemist with Monsanto Chemical Company. In 1966, Jeanette stepped away from her career to raise her family. She later returned to the workforce with O’Connor School Pictures, where she began as a photographer and eventually retired as the lead salesperson.

Throughout her life, Jeanette remained an avid sports enthusiast, faithfully cheering for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins. She was also an excellent tennis player. Jeanette deeply loved her animals and took great pride in her meticulously maintained gardens. She enjoyed cooking, camping, and taking long trips in the family Airstream. With her warm smile, she had a special gift for brightening anyone’s day.

Jeanette was the beloved wife of the late Richard B. Alm and is the loving mother of Michelle L. Richard and her husband Thomas of Chocorua, New Hampshire and Erik D. Alm of Ipswich, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Lisa Meyer, Heather DiGiustino, and Scott DiGiustino and his wife Tonya, as well as her great-grandchildren, Betty, Jeanette, Emmett, Greyson, Marilynn, and Salem.

The family has requested all her services to be private.
