William “Bill” Milford Cochran, 78, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born September 8, 1947, in Abbeville, SC, he was the son of the late William Harry Cochran and Caroline Milford Cochran Petty. 

He was a 1969 graduate of Presbyterian College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management and was a member of the Ben Hay Hammet Society. Bill retired from Piedmont Technical College after many years of service as Director of the Weekend and Evening College.

Bill is survived by his son, William “Chris” Christopher Cochran (Nicole); his daughter, Laura Cochran Hewitt (Rick Laing); and two granddaughters, Caroline Elizabeth Hewitt and Samantha Jayne Cochran.

He was a member of Rock Presbyterian Church, the Greenwood Lions Club, and was a devoted Clemson Tiger fan. Bill enjoyed playing golf and was especially proud of achieving a hole-in-one at Stoney Point during the weekly Senior Golf League.

He was the husband of the late Nancy Murphy Cochran, whom he married in 1970 and who preceded him in death in 2023. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Lee Cochran.

The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 1:00pm – 2:00pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00pm with Dr. Chris Leonard officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.
