Margaret Gail Kennedy, age 88, of Carson City, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at her home with family by her side.

Gail was born July 4, 1937, in Detroit, the daughter of John and Margaret (Conway) Marnon. She graduated from Visitation Catholic High School with the class of 1955. Gail married John A. Kennedy on Feb. 11, 1956, at Visitation Catholic Church in Detroit. She was a proud homemaker and later worked as a CNA for local nursing homes. Gail enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, cooking, baking and was well known for her delicious soups.

She was a very dedicated member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Carson City. Gail would give her time and talent whenever Nancy needed help. She visited the sick and shut-ins of our area. She was a member of the Altar Society and gave out the Holy Eucharist for many Masses.

She is survived by her children Kevin Kennedy, Debbie (Ray) Harwood, Karen (Dennis) Wiand, Teri (Rod) Middleton, Kelly (Kurt) Keiffer, Ken (Bonnie) Kennedy, Dennis Kennedy, honorary son Eddie Sims, grandchildren Taylor, Claire, Justin, Christopher, Bryce, Zachary, Hannah and Dylan, great grandchildren Connor, Owen, Townes, Lowe, Magnolia Joy, Kellan, Jackson, Madison, siblings Edward (Terrie) Marnon, Rosemary Cavanaugh, Donna (John) Arquette and many nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, granddaughter Kelsey and brothers Albert, Joe, Richard, Phillip, Don and Barney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Carson City. Interment will follow in Maryknoll Cemetery, Carson City. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 am until time of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Carson City Food Bank or for Masses said in Gail’s memory.
