Clifford James Howlett Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clifford James Howlett, age 76, of Fredericksburg, Virigina, who passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his residence. He was a man of boundless energy and intelligence who touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance.


He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and was the son of the late Wayne and Thelma Howlett.


Cliff proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 30 years, served during the Vietnam war and later settled in Fredericksburg. He enjoyed life, he loved sightseeing, traveling to different places around the world, fishing, cookouts, and spending time with family and friends.


He was very proud of being a docent at the Marine Corps Museum, Quantico, Virigina. He loved that time with his co-veterans and had a lot of respect for the Marine Corps.


Clifford is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Beth Howlett; one son, Timothy William Howlett; one daughter, Jennifer Laura Clark; grandchildren Jonathan Howlett, Oliver Howlett, Kaitlyn Clark, Melinda Clark, and Brianna Clark. He is also survived by his siblings, sister Karen Ward (Terry); brothers Paul (Betty) Howlett, Michael Howlett, Richard (Vickey) Howlett, and Joesph Howlett.


He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Howlett.


Cliff will be missed by family and friends.


A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the National Marine Corps Cemetery, Quantico, Virginia.
