James E. Burgett, 79, of Stockport, passed away on Thurs, Jan. 8, 2026 at his residence.  He was born on Aug. 21, 1946 in Harrisburg, Ohio to the late Frank and Betty Hickman Burgett.  He proudly served his county in the U. S. Army and worked for the Farmers Exchange Mill in Derby, Ohio.  He is survived by his brother, William Burgett of Stockport, 3 sisters, Sally Sanders of Darbyville, Lorilei Sanders of Orient and Beverly Burgett of Darbyville.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Kenny, Charles and Bobby Burgett and 3 sisters, Suzanne Smith, Gloria Hare and Nancy Perkins.  Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville is handling as caring cremation for the family.
