Ruth Dena (Kling) McCauley, age 98, passed away January 3, 2026, at her recent residence in Mentor after surviving numerous ailments over the last several years. She was born February 18, 1927, in Cleveland to Archie T. Kling and Hilda (Miller) Kling.
Ruth was a secretary for the Veteran’s Administration for 3 years since graduating from Collinwood High School in January of 1945, until she married in 1948. Ruth was also the assistant secretary of Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Euclid for several years.
She enjoyed Eastern Stars, her church, her family, baseball games, hockey games, and reading the daily newspaper.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Janet R. Smith; son, Paul L. (Pamela) McCauley; grandchildren, Paul Alan Smith (Kimberly Blicha), Amy (Paul) Jackson, Malcolm C. McCauley(Sterling Keaton) and David S. McCauley; great grandchildren, Cheryl McAngus (James Rutter), Risa Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Quinn Jackson, Isaiah Jackson, and Evelyn Jackson;and great, great grandchildren, Theodore and Elizabeth Rutter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lambert McCauley; grandson, James ClerkMcCauley; son-in-law, William Smith; and her parents.
A Celebration of Life for Ruth will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, January 23, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, 4785 Shankland Road, Willoughby, Ohio. Interment will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland, Ohio at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 9,2026.
