Michael Patrick McHughes, of Carriere, Mississippi, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on July 27, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he is the beloved son of the late Milton Paul McHughes and Mary Louise McHughes.
Michael is the cherished husband of Roxanne B. McHughes, with whom he shared 32 years of love and memories. He is the adored father of Michelle Paulette Gerhold (Elliot) and Rodney Wayne Davis Jr. (Lorie); treasured grandfather of Ellie A. Gerhold and Graham M. Gerhold; proud Paran of Madison Martinez; and loving brother of Mary Louise Oliveri and Murray L. Palmer Sr. He also leaves behind his former wife, Patricia Murphy McHughes, as well as a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom he loved greatly.
Michael graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans with the Class of 1975. He went on to become a successful business owner, specializing in auto detailing supplies. His business, Auto Cleaning Supply of Slidell, served the community for over 25 years. Cars were more than a business for Michael. He was a member of The RodKnockers Car Club, sharing his passion for classic cars with fellow enthusiasts. He also enjoyed the fishing in his spare time.
Michael's Catholic faith carried him through life’s challenges. He was a man who led by example and lived with purpose. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception concluding at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Autism Speaks or St. Jude Children’s Hospital are preferred.
