Rev. Roland F. Follmann, OSA, age 92, died on January 3. After graduating from Villanova University, he professed vows in the Augustinian Order in 1952 and was ordained June 8, 1960, at Notre Dame University. He dedicated nearly 60 years serving in secondary education (Mendel Catholic, Chicago; St. Rita, Chicago; Austin Catholic, Detroit; Carmel High School for Girls, Mundelein, IL; Cascia Hall, Tulsa; Gerard Catholic, Phoenix; Providence Catholic, New Lenox, IL). He is remembered for his strong work ethic and his love of crossword puzzles, the Wall Street Journal, and a good pint of Guinness or German beer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Barbara (Roemer) Follmann, and by his brothers Rudolf and Erich Follmann. He is survived by his brother Reinhard (Rosalie) Follmann; his niece Erika (Scott) Ambourn; his nephews Mark (Karen), Kristopher, and Derek Follmann; and several grand-nieces and nephews. Visitation is on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 11 AM, followed by Mass at 12 PM at St. Jude Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave, New Lenox, IL 60451. Burial will take place on Jan. 17 in Kewaskum, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Augustinians, 10161 S. Longwood Dr., Chicago, IL 60643, to support care of elderly friars and seminary formation of young friars appreciated.
