Gregory William Stein

March 21, 1951 - January 3, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of Gregory William Stein announces his passing at age 74 on January 3, 2026. Greg’s infectious laugh and radiant smile lifted the spirits of many. He was born on March 21, 1951, in St. Paul, Minnesota, as the oldest child of Gordon and Irma (Beck) Stein. Greg’s father was an avionics engineer and the family moved often. Greg graduated from Orange Glen High School Escondido, California. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era. He later moved to Omaha and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Omaha . Greg had a thriving career at the phone company for 28 years; while working there he met the love of his life, Denise Rosenthal; the two were married on October 20, 1979. This union resulted in three children. Greg was very active in the lives of his children, encouraging his sons to become Eagle Scouts. Denise tragically passed away in 2007 of breast cancer, but his love for her never ended. Greg became involved in breast cancer and veteran charities. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, farming, backgammon, and creating entrepreneurial ideas.

Greg was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise; and his father, Gordon. He is survived by children, Jessica, Dan (Andrea) and William; grandchildren, Asher and Arlo; mother, Irma; brothers, Jeff (Diane), Brad (Janie); and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 12:00 - 2:00PM, with Remarks to follow, West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha, 68124

INTERMENT with Military Honors, Monday, January 12, 2026, at 12:30PM, Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, 68138
