Douglas George Diersing, age 83, of Sunbury, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born on May 20, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Edward Diersing and Helen (Adams) Diersing.
Doug married Kathleen Ann Stewart on February 1, 1964. Together they raised a wonderful family and shared almost 62 loving years of marriage.
Doug was a hard worker and extremely talented with woodworking and gardening. He could craft anything from hobby horses to a deacon’s bench and even created his family’s beautiful dining room table made from black walnut. Doug loved growing all kinds of vegetables and flowers, his favorite flower being the Dahlia. This man was known for his big green thumb and we joked that he could even grow grass on rocks!
Doug also worked very hard with his brother, Ron, for over 45 years, building Strong Wall Concrete Company, pouring walls and excavating at construction sites for new homes. Doug was a dedicated family man and a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Doug left a message before passing away simply stating that “He was proud of all the good work he did and proud of his loving wife, two daughters, and wonderful grandkids and great-grandkids.” Doug was a special person who will be forever loved and missed by all those who were blessed to know him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Diersing; daughters, Deanna (Christopher) Corbin and Barbara (Charles) Search; grandchildren, Derick Search, Kayla (Austin) Carr, and Katrina (Demetrius Jimerson) Search; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Angelo, and Amiyah; brother, Denny Diersing; sisters, Sharon Beebe, Rosie Adkins, Mary Lou Rigdon, and Mary Darlene Calahan.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Diersing; and brothers, Edward, Ronald, and Jerry Diersing.
