Barry Wayne Oickle Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Barry Oickle announce his passing on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the age of 76, after a courageous four year battle with blood cancer.

Barry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Heather; his daughters Marsha (Neil), Cookville, Sharon (Jarrett), Kingston; his grandchildren Sierra, Owen and Nathan; brothers John (Joan) and David (Angela); his brother-in-law Wilmont Hardy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Barry was pre-deceased by his parents Leroy and Naomi (Crouse) Oickle and his sister-in-law, Diana Hardy.

Barry lived a full and adventurous life. He worked with the NS Dept of Natural Resources for several years before joining Michelin in 1971. His career involved working at all three Michelin NS plants, as well as their plant in Kitchener, ON. He retired in 2005 and he and Heather spent many happy retirement years travelling and exploring most of Canada and much of the USA in their RV. These travels evolved into a number of winters spent in Salt Springs, FL with friends new and old. Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as an enthusiastic classic vehicle restorer and owner. He spent most of his spare time doing projects around home and for family members and friends. Barry freely gave his time to others, truly enjoying helping those around him. He also spent many happy days with his three grandchildren, hiking, riding bikes, playing pickleball, cribbage and Yahtzee. These special times will always be remembered.

Cremation has taken place and an interment service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, in West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to East Coast Memorial Funeral Home in Coldbrook.
