Linda Anne Kintz Obituary

Linda Anne Kintz, 79, a resident of the Gales Creek community, died Saturday, January 3, 2026, at her home.

Private Cremation Rites, Hoyt Crematory, Forest Grove, Oregon.

Linda Anne Kintz, age 79, of Gales Creek, Oregon, passed away peacefully to heaven on January 3, 2026, at her home in the community of Glenwood, under the loving and tender care of her husband, Larry A. Kintz.

Linda was born in Portland, Oregon, September 4, 1946. The eldest of three children born to Leonard and Lorrine Shipley. For two years they resided in Vanport, Oregon. On an outing to the coast, Linda’s parents left her with her uncle and aunt on their farm in Pumpkin Ridge, a community near North Plains, OR. On that day, the city of Vanport, home to several thousand people, was completely destroyed by flooding from the Willamette River. The Shipleys lost all their belongings and home, later moving to Forest Grove, where two more children came along, a son, Lenny Shipley and another son, Lonny Shipley.

During her senior year of high school, Linda Shipley and her future lover and husband, Larry Kintz, were introduced at a basketball game at Forest Grove High School by Larrys’ younger brother, Perry Kintz. After a lengthy courtship, they were married at the Christian church in Forest Grove on April 13, 1968!  After a couple of days at home in Glenwood, they packed their suitcases and spent a glorious honeymoon in Hawaii.

Back home again, they began housekeeping, living, loving, laughing and following Jesus as a foundation for happiness, it worked!

Linda took a respite from employment to begin raising our sons, Marty Kintz and his younger brother, Corey Kintz. What a wonderful homemaker Linda was. After a few years of setting the two boys on a firm foundation, Linda returned to work at Forest Grove school district. She spent several years at Gales Creek Elementary school as a librarian and also teaching children about Jesus and the Bible at an after school program. She transferred to Harvey Clarke Elementary as a librarian, and continued there until her retirement.

Linda made a beautiful cowgirl as we were riding those mules to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Linda thoroughly enjoyed those cruises on the inside passage to Alaska. And that week spent horseback drop camping in the Wallowa Mountains was

spectacular.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Leonard, and her mother, Lorrine.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry, her brother Lenny and his wife Lisa, her brother Lonny, her son Marty and his wife Melissa, her son Corey, Granddaughter Ellie Heisler and her husband Ben, and granddaughter Evin Kintz.

Linda Kintz will be greatly remembered and sorely missed and loved. She now resides in heaven where we will see her again!
