John Konstanty Kosek, 75, retired teacher, passed away Saturday, January 3rd 2026.
He is survived by the wife he adored for 52 years and counting, Theresa Kosek of Moscow; his son: Christopher Kosek of West Hollywood, CA; his sister: Dolores Englehart of Hackettstown, NJ and other extended family.
As an avid explorer, John's adventures took him from the depths of the Grand Canyon to the peaks of Machu Picchu. He founded the astronomical observatory at Riverside High School, volunteering his time to generations of students including some who went on to careers at NASA. In retirement, he continued mentoring youth through Scouting.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC, 3 First St. in Spring Brook Twp. with a time to share memories and tell stories beginning at 3:30 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 12 at 10:00 am in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Church Street in Moscow by Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney, pastor. Interment with Rite of Committal will follow in Dunmore Cemetery. Family and friends are kindly requested to proceed directly to the church on Monday morning.
