David Coots, 51, returned to God on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026. Born in Hazard, KY on August 12, 1974, he was a beloved husband, father, and PapPap. His passing was an unexpected shock to his family, friends, and loved ones. He was extraordinarily loved, and taken far too soon. David is survived by the love of his life, Dana Coots. The 25 years they spent together were filled with love, happiness, and a lot of laughter. He leaves behind his legacy in the form of their 8 children; Nicole Jones, Bobby (Jill) Coots, Jessica (Adam) Blankenship, Kenny (Samantha) Coots, Mason Merry, Andrea (Jacob) Coots, Birtie (Austin) Coots, and Kiera (Trent) Coots; as well as their many cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Orlene Coots, Martha Feltner, and Florin Merry. David was preceded in death by his parents Allison and Minerva Coots, of Happy, KY. David was a proud veteran, and was honorably discharged from the Army after serving during the early 90’s. Throughout his life David had an array of careers, but spent many years as a truck driver. He was a licensed CCW instructor and took great enjoyment in teaching his skills to others. David enjoyed spending time with family, riding his motorcycle, and playing pool. In the last years of his life, David reconnected with his faith. Knowing that he passed with Jesus in his heart has brought peace to his family in this time of sadness. They know that he is in Heaven, waiting to be reunited with the ones he loves.
