Franchino, Antonietta Edda
We are profoundly saddened by the passing of our mother Antonietta Franchino. Antonietta passed away peacefully in her 96th year, after a brief illness on January 3,
2026, surrounded by her loving and devoted daughters. She is predeceased by her husband Antonio with whom she spent 22 happy and
memory filled years until his sudden passing (1974). Later in life she found love again with her long-time companion Ben Wey, until his death (2001). She was a loving mother to Adriana (Harry), Barbara (Fred), and Michela (Johnny). A treasured Nonna to Sean (Christine), Michael (Melissa), Matthew, Joshua, Dane (Alicia), Luke (Sarah), Drew and Meghan (Justin). And a proud Bisnonna to 10 beautiful great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brother Claudio (Lucia) and nephew Matteo. And will be fondly remembered by Ben’s children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Damiano Altavilla and Luigia Regeni and her sister Lucia. Mom was an avid reader of history books, who also enjoyed needlepoint. But her true passion was family and she loved nothing more than a family gathering and sharing a meal with a special fondness for desserts of any kind. A private interment ceremony with close family will be held at a later date, but we invite family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the P.X Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave (between Mohawk and Fennell), from 11:00 am and 1:30 pm to share their memories. For those wishing, in lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory. Notes of sympathy and condolences may be made at www.dermodys.com
