Henrietta Herrington Roberts was born on September 3, 1935, to the late Robert and Mary Ellen Herrington in Waycross, Georgia.
She was a faithful member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served on various committees and sang in the choir. Later in life, she joined Antioch Baptist Church, where she served as the Mother of the Church.
Henrietta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was deeply committed to her family and was known for her love, strength, and dedication. She graduated from Hazzard Hill School and worked for the Ware County Courthouse Maintenance Department for 32 years. Upon her retirement, the Ware County Commissioners honored her by declaring August 29 as Henrietta Roberts Day.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Ellen Herrington; her husband, James Roberts; her children, Lorenzo Reid, Niese Hill, and Jacqueline Walker; as well as her grandson, Gavin Hill. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Grady Marshall, Marion Saddler, R. V. Herrington, David Marshall, A. Q. Marshall, Walter Herrington, Samuel Herrington, Mary Frances Calhoun, and Erie Lee Marshall.
Henrietta leaves to cherish her memories her children: Lindsey Roberts, Lesly Roberts, Larry (Latheshia) Roberts, Lacount Roberts, Jean Roberts, Kenny Roberts, Sharon Roberts, Valerie Roberts, and Gwendolyn Roberts; a niece/daughter, Connie Bussey; one sister, Margaret Monroe; grandchildren: Todra Reid, Stacey (Sandra) Reid, Shawnte (Isaac) Benefield, Nicholas Hill, Alana (Jeff) Amaro, Renaldo Roberts, Robyn Bussey, and Cheryl (Marcus) Burden; great-grandchildren: Quante Reid, Quaderiz Reid, Quania Reid, Dallas Benefield, Charles Huff, Nina Hill, Uriah Benefield, Morgan Burden, London Hill, Mason Burden, Carter Roberts, Kayla Amaro, Kemp Dunn, Elijah Hill, Jaylen Hill, Nariya Williams and Nevyn Williams; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Reid; one son-in-law, Calvin Hill; as well as numerous family members and friends.
The family would also like to thank Ms. Vivian Reid, a faithful caregiver and friend, and the staff of Georgia Hospice Care for their service and care.
