Francis Eugene (Gene) Crockett, 81 of Baxter Springs, KS passed away January 3, 2026 at Freeman Hospital Joplin, MO after a brief illness. Gene was born May 1, 1944 to Francis Crockett and Kathryn ( Peace ) Crockett in Picher, Oklahoma. He was a 1962 graduate of Picher High School.
Gene is survived by his daughter's, Samantha ( Mark) Thompson, Ainsworth, Iowa and Traci Cook, Miami, OK, a sister Jeanette Crockett, nephew Ronald (Dino) and Joy Crockett all of Baxter Springs, KS. Seven grandchildren, Laci O'Leary, Kassi Spencer, Randi Brase, Zachary Thompson, Justus Washburn, Jaden Washburn and Kendryck Cook. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is proceded in death by his parents, a sister, JoAnnn Abernathy and a niece, Shelly Abernathy Clark.
Gene was an avid Dallas Cowboy's and Oklahoma Sooner's fan. He enjoyed Nascar, fishing and gardening.
