Joel Gordon Andrews Obituary

Joel Gordon Andrews, 73, died peacefully on January 3, 2026 at his home in Scranton.

The twins of a Broadway dancing couple, Joel and his sister, Judith, were later adopted by the Reverend George and Jean Whitford Andrews. Reverend Andrews, a prominent figure in Lackawanna County, was the pastor and founding father of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit.

Though deeply devoted to his adopted parents, Joel was a far cry from a somber and staid Presbyterian, and upon graduation from Abington High School, set out for a career in music—namely ROCK music!

Joel drove tour buses for Showco including Bob Marley, Thompson Twins, GENESIS, Joan Jett, Fleetwood Mac and more. Eventually, Joel became the personal driver for Phil Collins. Upon retirement he drove for local trucking firms and businesses.

Music was his passion. Joel would tickle the ivory keys and break out a tune in any conversation. He brought Love and Happiness into every room.

Although he spent most of his career on the road, Joel remained true and faithful to his wonderful wife, Marion “Susie” Robinson Andrews. When Susie died on April 6, 2006, Joel decided to never marry again since no one could replace her. He said, “When the Lord says it’s time, I’ll see you there. I won’t be late--when you hear my keys, I’ll be at the gate.”

Joel was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin sister Judith Andrews Kinne and her husband Robert Kinne.

He is survived by his loving children. Three sons, Jamie and Dawn Walton, Jody and April Andrews, Justin and Jennie Andrews, and a daughter Stacey Andrews and partner Laureen; his grandchildren Angelyne, Tristian, John, Rachel, Tori, Kyra, Crystal, and Lexi; and many supportive friends and family.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, on Thursday, January 8th from 4-6 p.m.

A prayer service led by Reverend Bill Carter will be held at 5 p.m. with visitation resuming afterward.

Contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
