Robert Bruce Bennett, Sr., age 80 of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Avondale, PA. He was the husband of Christine Peters Bennett, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

Born 1945 in West Jefferson, NC, Robert was the son of the late Virgil Bennett and the late Marie Lewis Bennett.

Robert and Christine met when they were just 5 years old and living down the street from one another. Though Robert moved away for a time, the two were reunited when he moved back to the area and attended Unionville High School. Their connection was quickly rekindled, and Christine and Robert began to date in 1963. In 1965, the happy couple tied the knot and the rest was history.

Robert worked for General Motors as a painter for nearly 30 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and racing cars. Robert was a quiet and humble man, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Christine, Robert is survived by his son, Robert Bennett, Jr.; his brother, Daniel; sisters, Wilma and Joan; and his two grandchildren, Trevor and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Timothy.

Services for Robert will be private.
