Vittorio Ferrara Obituary

Vittorio ‘Victor’ Ferrara
July 25, 1951 - January 3, 2026

Vittorio ‘Victor’ Ferrara, 74, of Danbury, CT, passed away on January 3, 2026. The youngest in a family of thirteen children, he was born in San Felice a Cancello, Italy to Domenico and Michela (Savinelli) Ferrara. As a young man, Victor emigrated from Italy to Connecticut, with his citizenship sponsored by his maternal aunts, Lucia Fantarella and Marta Cimmino.

He arrived in the early 1970s, just in time for the disco era, which he embraced wholeheartedly along with attending the local Italian Club.
He remained in Fairfield County for the rest of his life. First in Bridgeport, then in Monroe, and finally in Danbury. With limited education, but plenty of ambition and a strong work ethic, he supported his family with various jobs as he settled into life in the US. Among these were stretches at Bridgeport’s Remington/GE plant and as a machinist at Sargent Manufacturing in New Haven.

In his 30s, he trained as a barber, eventually running ‘Victor of Italy’ in Danbury for over 25 years. His shop was a time capsule that retained a steady stream of customers even though he entered semi-retirement and didn’t have official hours for years. His regulars would just drive by to see if he was hanging out. If so, they would be welcomed in for a touch up and a chat. His extensive opinions on a wide range of topics were offered free of charge.

He was an active and avid golfer for many years, with regular visits to the local driving range and Richter Park to roll a few putts. He didn’t play full rounds much in his later years, but he began bringing his son out to the golf course as a toddler and instilled a lifelong love of the game in him. Alas, his daughters were not fans.
Victor loved socializing, watching movies, helping friends in need, making deals (he always knew a guy), and cars including his pristine red 2000 Corvette.

He also took great joy in his young grandsons. Unfortunately, they live in California, and he was not an adopter of modern technology. Luckily, he could receive texts and photo album links. While he never fully grasped how to send one back in return, printed photos of them were never far from reach in the barbershop.

He is survived by his children Francesca (Philip Wiseman), Gregory (Allie), and Michelle Ferrara; his beloved grandsons Alessandro and Luciano Wiseman; his former wife Michela Rosato Ferrara; and numerous relatives in Italy and beyond.
A gathering will be held in his honor on January 18, 2026, at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, attendees are invited to share their memories beginning at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his grandchildren’s future education fund: Fund for Grandchildren of Vittorio Ferrara
