Henry Macy Skinker, age 75, passed away peacefully at home in Marshall, VA on January 3, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. Henry was born January 7, 1950, son of the late Priscilla Macy and Henry Cochran Skinker.
Henry met his wife, Candace Cockerille, while attending Fauquier High School. Together they shared 52 years of marriage that was full of love and family. Henry is survived by his wife Candace, daughters Cherish and Chatland, and granddaughters Ellie and Lyla. He is also survived by his siblings Priscilla Riley, Ann Bowman (Bruce), Oliver Skinker (Athena), and the late William Skinker (Martha).
In his early teens Henry began his long and dedicated career as a firefighter with Marshall Volunteer Fire and Rescue. He retired as a lieutenant from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue after 32 years of service. Henry successfully established, owned, and managed his fire protection business, H.M.S Fire Extinguishers Inc., for 50 years, serving the areas of northern and central Virginia.
Henry was a devoted husband, father, and Papa, who enjoyed spending time with his family on vacations and at volleyball tournaments and dance competitions. He was always present, cheering, and proud of his girls. He also enjoyed curating an extensive bourbon collection, cooking, listening to music, and utilizing his enviable and impressive handyman skills.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, strength, courage, loyalty, and endless love and support to family and friends. He will be profoundly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 7, 2026, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, Va. A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 8, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Warrenton Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow at O’Briens Irish Pub.
