Helen Irene Mayberry, 94, of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at The Grove Nursing and Rehab in Jacksonville.
She was born April 18, 1931, in rural Arenzville, the daughter of William and Ethel (Abel) Charlesworth. She married Ray S. Mayberry and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by two children, Kurt Mayberry of Jacksonville, and Hope Courier (deceased boyfriend, Steve Ervin) of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Jordan Mayberry, Sam (Kristina) Mayberry and Christina Courier (Mark); one sister, Bernice; and her companion, Harold Dixon. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Clifford, William, Jimmy, and one infant brother; and four sisters, Josephine, Frances, Mary, and Marie. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Mark Courier.
Helen was a licensed practical nurse and had provided daycare for area children. She also ran a home cleaning business, retiring at the age of 86. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and School in Jacksonville.
Private services will be held at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. The Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent online at airsman-hires.com.
