Charles E. Miller Obituary

Charles E. Miller, 92 of Jacksonville and formerly of Winchester passed away Saturday January 3, 2026 in Springfield. He was born April 13, 1933 in Liberty, Kentucky the son of the late Ernest and Ruth Miles Miller. He married Lois Marie Whitaker July 21, 1953. She preceded him in death in 2010. Also preceding him in death were 2 brothers a sister and 2 sons in laws Greg Early and Jim Vannier.

Charles was a grain and livestock farmer, he also worked maintenance for the State of Illinois, and for the State Transportation Department for many years. He was very active member of Grace Baptist Church in Winchester for 68 years. He delivered Doorbell Dinners, raising cattle and watching Illini sports and Cubs baseball. Charles served his country in the US Army from 1953-1955 as a squad leader in the 85th Infantry.

Surviving are his children Kathy (Mike) Bigley, Debby Vannier, Brenda Early, and Jerry (Michelle) Miller, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers Richard (Camilla) Miller and Joe (Sandra) Miller.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday January 7, 2026 at the Grace Baptist Church in Winchester. Burial will be in Winchester City cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Baptist Church. The Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester is in charge of the arrangements.
