Michael "Mike" Grieshaber Obituary

Michael "Mike" Grieshaber, 68, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away on January 3, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, due to complications from pneumonia.

Mike was born on September 14, 1957, in St. Louis to Charles and Clara Mae Grieshaber. The youngest of five brothers, he grew up in a close-knit family rooted in hard work, quality time, and a deep Catholic faith - values that guided him throughout his life.

A dedicated and diligent worker, Mike spent 17 years working for National Supermarket and 26 years as a mail carrier. Known for his reliability and strong work ethic, he formed lasting friendships with coworkers and became someone others could always count on.

In 1974, Mike met Pamela "Pam" Mertz, and the two were married on May 12, 1979. Mike's love for Pam was evident in everything he did, and their relationship continues to inspire all who hear their story. Together, Mike and Pam devoted themselves wholeheartedly to being a loving uncle and aunt to their growing nieces and nephews. Their generosity extended well beyond family, as they regularly gave time and resources to charitable efforts supporting children and animals. Mike also served as a volunteer firefighter in Silex, Missouri.

In 1991, Mike and Pam welcomed their only daughter, Catherine. Mike was an involved and charismatic father who took great pride in providing for his family and leading with both love and a witty sense of humor. He was a constant presence - never missing a sporting event, a milestone, or even a routine oil change. As a father-in-law, he offered steady support and quiet guidance, and as a grandfather, he delighted in every moment, sharing his unmistakable warmth.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Mike found great joy in sharing his love of nature with others. After a devastating hunting accident in 2013 left him wheelchair-bound, he discovered more time for other pleasures, including late-night card games with friends, questionable Scrabble strategy against his mother and brother, and offering spirited commentary to the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs through the television screen.

Mike was also a devoted parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church. During his 38 years there, he served the parish as a Stephen Minister, church picnic volunteer, and member of the ACTS Team. Always offering his time with the same steady presence and compassion he brought to every part of his life.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Pamela (nee Mertz), and daughter, Catherine (Will) Lee; loving grandchildren, Raegan, Booker, and Lottie; his adoring mother, Clara Mae (nee Ladendecker) Grieshaber; brothers, Robert (Leslie), David (Liz), and Gerald (the late Pat) Grieshaber; brother-in-law Gary (Caroline) Mertz; and his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald, and father, Charles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to All Saints St. Vincent De Paul Society.
