Jerry "Ammy" David Obituary

Jerry "Ammy" David passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Services are not scheduled at this time, but a Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.

Geraldine David, known to family and friends as Jerry “Ammy”, was born on October 12, 1945, in Avila Beach, California, to Vernon and Audrey (Vosti) St. John. Jerry valued family above all else and was known for her welcoming spirit and genuine acceptance of people from all walks of life.

Jerry attended San Luis Obispo High School, graduating with the Class of 1963. She continued her education at Cuesta College, earning an associate degree. On November 25, 1967, she married Jeffrey Ira David at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa Catholic Church in San Luis Obispo. Together, they were blessed with two children, Jason and Jody.

Throughout their married life, Jerry and Jeff made their home in several communities, including Livermore, California; Memphis, Tennessee; and Brea, California, before settling in Windom, Minnesota, where Jerry lived for the past twenty years. She worked for the San Luis Obispo County Welfare Department and later as a customer service representative for Sunglasses Giant, retiring in 2015. Jerry also generously gave her time as a volunteer with the Art Masters program at her grandchildren’s elementary school.

With a heart rooted in family, Jerry made sure there was always room for one more. Known affectionately as the “Town Shuttle,” she ensured her grandchildren, and often their friends, were always where they needed to be. Jerry cherished the freedom of road trips and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, remaining closely connected to her family. She enjoyed sewing and expressing her creativity through making her own clothes, and she loved bowling, especially the time she shared bowling alongside her late husband, Jeff.
