Roberta Ellen Carroll Obituary

Roberta Ellen Carroll (Haynes), age 74, of East Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 with her husband by her side.

Known affectionately as “Babu” to her friends and family, Roberta was outgoing, funny, and endlessly chatty. She was often the life of the party, quick with a laugh, a story, or a joke and had a way of making conversations lively and memorable. Her humor and energy were a defining part of who she was.

Roberta leaves behind a legacy of love and faith cherished by her devoted husband of 55 years, Rodney Carroll. She was a proud and loving mother to Melissa Raines (Cameron); Roberta took great pride in her role as grandmother to Alexandra (Mark) Zuckerman and Maria Puglisi, as well as being a great-grandmother to Leo. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Laurie (Richard) Thrasher, and her brothers, Robert Haynes (Elizabeth Binder) and Ronnie (Eileen) Haynes.  She was predeceased by her parents, Leona and Robert Haynes and her sister, Bonnie Stone.

Roberta is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, along with countless friends whose lives were brighter for having known her. She will be deeply missed but always remembered for her laughter, warmth and generous nature as well as the presence she brought to the lives of those who knew and loved her.
