Susan Georgette Elmore, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at NHC Healthcare of Greer. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Susan will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her unwavering kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Daughter of the late George and Evelyn Bishop, Susan was born on February 17, 1952, in Pelzer, SC. Susan graduated from Havelock High School in 1970. Soon after, she began building a life rooted in love, laughter, and faith. She was married to the late Daniel Elmore. Susan’s proudest achievement was her family and she dedicated her life to caring for and loving them.
Susan had a deep love for the outdoors. She cherished beach days, mountain travels, and the simple pleasures of fishing and biking. Susan faithfully attended Restoration House Church, where she found joy in fellowship with friends and the surrounding community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Daniel Elmore; her cherished daughter, Kimberly Matheson; her grandson, Alex Johnson; her great-grandson, Tucker Capell; and her sister, Frances Prater.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory. She is survived by her children: Michael Matheson (Lori), Tracy Jones, Jennifer Matheson, and Brent Elmore (Amber), all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy in her life.
She is also survived by her siblings: George Bishop (Lynn), Donna Zapeline, and Jeff Bishop (Sherri), who shared a lifetime of memories and family bonds with her.
She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Justin Capell (Vickie), Deanna Flemming, Tyler Jones, Haley Wiggins (Joshua), Jacob Johnson, Lyndsey Johnson, Nathan Matheson (Rylee), Brittney Matheson, Marissa Willis , Grant Willis, and Quinn Elmore, each holding a special place in her heart.
She was also blessed to be a loving great-grandmother to Addison Wiggins, Hudson Wiggins, Ava Howell, Aiden Capell, Luke Capell, and Natalie Capell, whose lives brought her immense joy and happiness.
Her love for her family was deep and unwavering, and her legacy lives on through the many generations who were fortunate enough to be loved by her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Restoration House Church, 5001 Abbeville Hwy, Anderson, S.C. 29624, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
