Willie Lou Chauvin Whitney, 93, born December 17, 1932 a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Houma, LA passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026.


A visitation will be held in her honor on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Houma, LA from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Houma, LA.


She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Daniel Whitney; sons, Roland T. Whitney Sr. (Sandra L. Whitney), Shawn P. Whitney (Naomi F. Whitney), and Guy S. Whitney; daughters, Jennifer A. Whitney, Christine F. W. Champagne, Joan C. Whitney, and Shannon L. Whitney (Connie Wilson); grandchildren, Antares W. Brown, Kristen Whitney, Roland T. Whitney Jr., Garrett M. Tuttle, Justin P. Tuttle, Emily R. Tuttle, Whitney N. Champagne, Lee Whitney, and Shelby L. Whitney; great-grandchildren, Claire Boudreaux, Evan Boudreaux, Eva Brown, Bobbie Duplantis, Sunni Duplantis, Jett S. Whitney, Remington F. Tuttle, Reese F. Tuttle, Michael J. Carter, and Finn D. Tuttle; brother, Guy Chauvin; and sisters, Wilhelmina C. Iennusa and Amy C. Ourso.


She was preceded in death by her father, Roland R. Chauvin; mother, Wilhelmina B. Chauvin; step-mother, Estelle M. Chauvin; brothers, Roland R. Chauvin Jr. and Don L. Chauvin; and sister, Carol A. C. Lennox.


Willie Lou worked for LA Land and Exploration Comp. before having children. She enjoyed homemaking, working in her garden, fishing at the camp in Cocodrie, and cooking for large family gatherings.
