Thomas L. Hampton, age 58, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on December 2, 1967, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Robert Hampton and Ann (Hess) Johnson. Tom was a 1986 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and was employed with Ironworkers Local #172 in Columbus.


He was a former member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon. Tom enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and spending quality time with his family and friends.


He is survived by his parents Bob (Margaret) Hampton of Mount Vernon, his mother, Ann Johnson of Mount Vernon, a sister, Robin (Rob) Ball of Naples, Florida, a brother, Chris Patterson of Mount Vernon, a niece, Katie (Thomas) Bien of Naples, Florida, a nephew, Nick Ball of Dublin and a great niece, Rosie Bien.


The family will observe a service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Thomas L. Hampton.
