Ruth Wirt Martin, 85, passed away January 3, 2026. She was the daughter of Arthur L. Wirt and Ora Mann. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Don Wirt and Arthur D. Wirt; sister Betty W. Fox; son Gary L. Martin; and grandsons Kenny D. Martin and Kristopher G. Martin.

She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years Floyd K .Martin,Sr.; daughter, Bonnie M. Brown (Don); two sons, Floyd K. Martin, Jr. (Karen) and Timothy W. Martin (Vickie); brothers, Bobby Wirt (Corinne) and Fred Wirt; grandchildren, Brittaney, Bridgette, Sara, Gary, Jessica; and great grandchildren, Caleb, Katie, Aaron, Kourtney, Allie, Skylar, Connor, Hudson and Eleanor.

Ruth was very active at her church, Bethel Baptist church. She sang in the choir, assisted with the nursing home/shut-in ministry, and was always willing to help anyone. Ruth was also known as a "hugger". She had a hug for everyone. She will be greatly missed, but we are rejoicing with her today as she is in presence of God her Savior. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Crematory, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Sager officiating.
