Passed away peacefully at Chapman House Hospice on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Born in Orillia on September 24, 1939, Ronald Edgar Gibbons of Owen Sound was in his 87th year.

Loving husband and best friend of Sarah Gibbons (nee Robertson) for 61 years. Cherished father of Catherine Brown (Ron) of Owen Sound and Ronald Gibbons of Owen Sound. Proud papa of Andrew (Rebecca), Cory, Carah (Mackenzie), and great papa of Cora and Eddie. “Special papa” of Brittany and Chad. Dear brother of Joyce Primeaux (Lou), Lorna Tweedy, and brother-in-law of Linda Gibbons, Sheila Gibbons, and Frances Gibbons. Ron will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends, including his extended family in Scotland. Ron was also father of David Gibbons (Jennifer) and grandfather of Emily, Gavin, Parker, Kyle and Nigel.

Predeceased by his parents Ted and Annie Gibbons, infant daughter Elizabeth, brothers Lloyd Gibbons, Randy Gibbons, Jerry Gibbons and Larry Gibbons, brother-in-law Bill Tweedy, and by his infant niece Jennifer Gibbons.

Ron was a proud Canadian veteran. He served as a Private overseas from April 3, 1958 until he was honorably released on September 29, 1961.

Ron’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Care Partners and at Chapman House for the exceptional care and compassion provided to Ron.

Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a Legion Service beginning at 10:45 a.m.
