Linda Duke, 83, of Salisbury, NC, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026.

She was born December 13, 1942, in Salisbury, to the late Vincent Lee Modlin and Katherine W. Modlin and was a 1960 Graduate of Boyden High School. Mrs. Duke was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury since 1977, where she assisted with the nursery for many years. She was always active in her community, serving as President of the Jaycettes while her family lived in Brevard and upon returning to Salisbury, was a member of Salisbury Women's Club and the Canasta Club for nearly 35 years; she also served as a Welcome Wagon Hostess that welcomed newcomers to Salisbury. Mrs. Duke was well known for the nearly 32 years that she and her husband owned and operated Rowan Decorating Center in Salisbury. She would take care of anyone that was in need and provided a warm home to many friends and foster children over the years. Mrs. Duke was deeply devoted to her family and was proud to have such a large and close-knit circle.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Vanessa Duke Allred and her brother, Danny Modlin.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, John Henry Duke, whom she married June 26, 1960; daughters, Varina Bunts (Larry), Vonda Lewis (Eddie), and Vickie Heidt (Steve); son-in-law, Shane Allred; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM on Thursday, January 8, at First Baptist Church of Salisbury, NC.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM on Thursday, at the church, with the Reverend Brian Farmer officiating.
