Kathleen Weston (Kus) Obituary

Kathleen Ann (Kus) Weston, 73, of Stafford, beloved wife of Nathan Weston, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Kathleen was born on June 20, 1952, in Adams, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joseph Kus, Sr. and Veronica (Fryc) Kus. She was raised in Adams and attended local schools before later relocating to Enfield, Connecticut, where she raised her family.

Kathleen was employed with CIGNA Insurance for more than 10 years and continued her career with Hamilton Sunstrand, where she worked for over 15 years on aerospace projects. After meeting her husband, Nathan, the couple made their home in Stafford Springs, Connecticut.

Kathleen’s life was profoundly shaped by the tragic loss of her son, Matthew, who passed away at a young age following an illness. In his honor, Kathleen became a founding member of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, where Matthew had attended during his illness. This charity remained deeply meaningful to her, and she faithfully supported it throughout her life. She was also actively involved with The Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents who have lost a child, where she found comfort and later gave compassion and guidance to countless others.

Kathleen had a deep appreciation for beauty and art. She lovingly tended to her many containers of exotic flowers at home and enjoyed visiting museums, particularly admiring modern art. Salvador Dalí was among her favorite artists. She also cherished traveling throughout the country with her husband, Nathan. They admired the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and visited the Falling Water house.

In addition to her husband, Nathan Weston, Kathleen is survived by her son, Andrew Lavigne; her stepsons, Alex and Joshua Weston; her brothers, James Kus and his wife Sharon, and Joseph Kus, Jr.; her nieces Stephani Aiello and her husband Cory and Jennifer Kus as well as several extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her son, Matthew Lavigne, and her sister-in-law, Marcia Kus.

Kathleen’s family will welcome relatives and friends for visiting hours from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, Connecticut. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen’s memory may be made to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511, noting “ATTN: FUNraisers.” For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com
