Hope Bailey, age 39, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Though her life was far too short, Hope filled every moment with love, laughter, and purpose, leaving an imprint on all who were blessed to know her.
Born August 9, 1986, in McDowell County, Hope lived her life wholeheartedly. She was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge and was known for her kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and forgiving spirit. Hope had a rare gift for bringing people together, she was the glue that held her family close, always putting others before herself and offering love unconditionally.
Hope found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved traveling, coloring, photography, and caring for babies. The beach and the lake were places where she felt most at peace, and her love for animals was evident to everyone who knew her. She also enjoyed spending time at the motocross track, especially cheering on Daxton Ray as he raced, moments that brought her genuine excitement and pride.
Above all, Hope cherished her family. Her devotion as a mother, daughter, sister, and friend defined her life. Her love was steady, faithful, and enduring, and it will continue to live on through those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kylee Jo Nichols; her maternal grandmother, Barbara Caraway; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Janet Patricia Nichols; and her beloved dog, Dixie, who was always by her side.
Surviving Hope are her husband, Kyle Bailey; her daughter, Adalin Bailey; her mother, Janet Hefner of Spruce Pine; her father, Robby Nichols (Kimberly) of Nebo; paternal grandfather, Carmel “Mutt” Caraway of Marion; Paternal grandmother, Vickie Calloway (Greg) of Morganton; five siblings, Halley Nichols of Spruce Pine, Michael Borntrager (Amanda) of Lincolnton, Victoria Bowen (Dylan) of Marion, Haven English (Noah) of Spruce Pine, and Bethany Nichols of Marion; her dear friends who were like sisters to her, Mandy Ray (Casey) and their three children, and Katie Myers (Steven) and their three children; ten cherished nieces and nephews; and her beloved goat, Lucy.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with her uncle, Rev. Jeff Silver officiating at the funeral home. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In keeping with Hope’s vibrant spirit and love for life, the family requests that bright colors be worn to the services as a celebration of the joy she brought into the world.
