Mary Jean Beaver Thompson, 78, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Wheeling Hospital.


She was born February 20, 1947, in Wheeling, daughter of the late Lawrence Beaver and Dora Richner Beaver Cunningham.


Mary was a member of the West Liberty Christian Church and retired from Wheeling Hospital as a central supply aide and cook.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thompson; grandson, Michael Cheatham; sister, Phyllis Shaffer; niece, Valerie Shaffer; brother-in-law, Robert Bennett; and sister-in-law, Kathy Beaver.


She is survived by her daughter, Melody (Dale) Poling; grandsons, Mike (Lisa Welch) Poling and DJ and Charles Poling; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Damien, Autumn, Ava and Addyson Poling; brother, William Beaver; sister, Patricia Bennett; and several nieces, nephews and friends.


A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11 AM with Rev. Dennis Arnold officiating at West Liberty Christian Church, 742 Van Meter Way, West Liberty, WV 26074.
