Elizabeth Ann "Betty Ann" Haenn Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Haenn (née Keough), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful servant of God, entered into eternal rest on January 3, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 16, 1937, in Philadelphia, the cherished daughter of Helen and Leo Keough, Elizabeth grew up in a home rooted in love, devotion, and Catholic faith. She attended Notre Dame Academy and went on to graduate from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1958, beginning a lifetime of compassionate service to others.

Known affectionately as Betty Ann, she married the love of her life, Robert Haenn, on May 23, 1959. For over 66 years, their marriage stood as a testament to sacramental love—faithful, joyful, and steadfast. Together they were blessed with 10 children, 34 grandchildren, and 7 great‑grandchildren, each one a gift she treasured deeply. Family was her greatest joy and the blessing she thanked God for every day.

A devoted and lifelong member of Saint Matthias Catholic Church, Betty Ann’s faith was the foundation of her life. From her earliest school days, she participated wholeheartedly in parish life—attending daily Mass and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered at St. John’s Hospice and Birthright Pregnancy Counseling Center. Her quiet holiness, gentle spirit, and unwavering trust in God touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, and their children:

Lisa Curtis (Stephen), Marty (Liz), Chris (Noreen), Tom (Valerie), Mary Bergan (James), Julie Nash (Steven), Pete, Robert Jr. (Paola)

Helen Davidson (Matthew), Jennifer McMahon (Brendan).

She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Jonathan Curtis, Brendan Curtis, Erin Jardim (Marco), Timothy Haenn (Kellie), Kaitlyn Dougherty (Patrick), Matthew and Michael Haenn; Meghan Griesser (Timothy), Kevin, Christopher Jr., and Ryan Haenn; Lauren Haenn; John, James, Michael, and Liam Bergan; Brian, Justin, Sara, Andrew, and Eric Nash; PJ, Kaila, and Justin Haenn; Allison, Owen, Charles, and Leo Haenn; Lindsey and Alexa Davidson; Abigail, Olivia, Sean, and Ella McMahon.

And her great‑grandchildren: Bennett Jardim, Chester, Landon, and Beau Haenn, Nora Dougherty, Ryan and Daniel Griesser.

She is also survived by her beloved sister, Patricia Cunningham (late John), and In-Laws: Barbara Haenn, Grace Haenn, Betty Liegel (late Robert), Thomas Shannon (late Cathy), Joannie Gaul (late Bill), Jeannie Rainey (late Bob), Also predeceased by Louise and William Craig and Joe Haenn.

Betty Ann found joy in her faith, in prayer, in the beauty of God’s creation, and most especially in time spent with family. She lived a life of service—quiet, humble, and generous—always giving of herself and reflecting Christ’s love in every act of kindness. We remember her devotion to the Pink Sisters. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now held in the loving arms of her Savior.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA on Saturday, January 10th from 9:00AM to 10:45AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM.

Donations may be made in her memory to St. Matthias Catholic Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 or Sisters of Mercy 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion Station, PA 19066.
