Gerald Edward Egan, age 81, of Glencoe, IL passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 surrounded by his family and lifelong friend Fran Cook. Beloved husband of Kathleen Toohey Egan for 53 years. Loving father of David (Carrie) Egan, Lauren Egan, and Kathryn (Matt) Infantino. Proud grandfather of Connor and Abby Egan, and Tommy, Will, Johnny and Madeleine Infantino. Brother of Maureen Macina, the late Patrick, and Jeannine Affleck, and brother-in-law of James (Anne) Toohey and Gael (the late Ted) Hanson. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jerry lived a life committed to his family, friends and faith. He graduated from Loyola Academy in 1962 and Northwestern University in 1966. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University in 1970. Jerry enjoyed a distinguished career in real estate. He began as an industrial broker with Bennett & Kahnweiler before joining RREEF in 1981 where he spent the bulk of his career. He spent his final chapter as CEO of Rodamco North America and Urban Properties until 2002.
Jerry was a supporter of Catholic education. He sent his children to Catholic schools through college and served on the Board of Trustees at Loyola Academy and the Regents Board at Georgetown University. Jerry bravely and quietly endured a long road of suffering, yet nothing stopped him. Quick-witted, loyal and optimistic to the end. He was a friend to all.
Visitation Thursday, January 8, 2026, 10:00 a.m. until time of an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 1077 Tower Road, Winnetka, IL 60093.
