Michael Edward Drotts, age 80, was born on March 8, 1945, in Deer River, Minnesota, where he was also raised and spent his life. He passed away Saturday, January 3rd, surrounded by family.
Mike was married to the love of his life, Rosie. Together they shared 45 fulfilling and happy years of marriage. Rosie preceded him in death in 2011 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Their love and partnership remained a defining part of his life.
He was a proud father to three sons: Mark (Teresa), Eric (Jean), and Dan (Jennifer) and a grandfather to Mitch, Mindy, Kevin, Erica, Lizzy, Natilee, Lilly, Autumn, Josie, and Sean, as well as 15 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Mike worked for the U.S. Forest Service and proudly served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a man who valued service, responsibility, and hard work.
A true outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, farming, and making maple syrup and wine. He was a talented welder and was able to create anything he set his mind to.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie, his parents Milton and Delores, and his brother Bruce.
Mike will be remembered for his steady presence, his many talents, and the love he had for his family and friends. His life was rich in simple joys, meaningful work, and lasting connections.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
