Oscar Barba Pedro, 87, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully On January 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for family.
Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Oscar was the son of the late Dolores (née Barba) and Felix Blanco Pedro, Sr. He was raised with strong values that guided him throughout his life. A proud graduate of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. During his younger years, Oscar was an accomplished athlete, playing varsity basketball in high school, a passion that reflected his lifelong appreciation for teamwork and discipline.
Oscar devoted many years of his professional life to Exxon Mobil, where he worked as Head Data Controller at the Bayway Oil Distillation Plant in Linden, New Jersey, from 1979 until 1996. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit later led him to business ownership. In 1989, he purchased a Burger King franchise in Springfield, New Jersey, followed by a second Burger King franchise in Glen Cove, New York, in 1993.
In his leisure time, Oscar enjoyed hunting, photography, and bowling, where he enjoyed his time as a member of different leagues.
He was the devoted husband of the late Josephine Pedro (née Lee), with whom he shared 56 loving years of marriage. Oscar is survived by his loving children, John Pedro of Glen Cove, NY. Michelle Sellers and her husband Christopher of Oxford, NJ, and Joyce Pedro Bautista of Woodbridge, NJ; his cherished grandchildren, Brianna Pedro-Santiago, Ian Pedro, Juliyah Bautista, and Lauren Pedro. He was also pre-deceased by his siblings, Felix Barba Pedro, Jr. and Llana Pedro Villaflor.
Oscar Barba Pedro will be remembered for his integrity, perseverance, and devotion to his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ on Thursday, Jan. 8th, from 4-8 PM.
