Mary Shaw Costa, 67, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Maine General Rehabilitation & Long-Term Care – Grey Birch in Augusta, Maine.


Born on May 26, 1958, Mary spent most of her life in Burrillville, Rhode Island, later residing in Putnam, Connecticut, before ultimately settling in Augusta, Maine.


Mary dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse, a profession that reflected her deep compassion and selflessness. She had an enduring love for all animals and was known for opening her heart to every creature she encountered, especially her many beloved pets. Mary’s quick wit, warmth, and sense of humor brought laughter and comfort to those around her. She loved the Lord, prayed daily, and found great joy in singing.


She was preceded in death by her parents, William Shaw and Jeanette Robidoux; her beloved daughter, Nicole Bonoyer; her brother, William E. Shaw; and her sisters, Linda Pichette and Joan Shaw.


Mary is survived by her children, Toby Bonoyer and Emily Bonoyer; her cherished grandchildren, Shyenne Croce, William Bonoyer, Layla Bonoyer, Mia Bonoyer, and Dominic Bonoyer; and her sisters, Elaine Pepler and Donna Shaw. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.


Mary will be remembered for her caring spirit, sharp humor, and unwavering love for her family and animals alike. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
