Janie Perry Pulley, 78, of Rolesville, passed away peacefully at WakeMed North Hospital Saturday evening.
She was born in Wake County, North Carolina, to the late Millard Perry and Maggie Denton Perry. Janie devoted much of her professional life to public service, retiring after a lengthy and dedicated career with the State of North Carolina, where she worked for the Employment Security Commission.
In 1964, Janie married the love of her life, Jessie Pulley, and together they shared 36 years of marriage before his passing.
Janie was immensely proud of her family — her children and grandchildren were truly her world. She was known for her genuine concern for others, her willingness to help anyone in need, and her exceptional organizational skills. Janie also took great pride in her appearance and was never known to leave the house without looking her very best.
Her greatest joys included her church, family gatherings, and sharing breakfast with her dear friends between Hardee’s and McDonald’s whenever she was able. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, generosity, and love that will live on through all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessie Pulley; her sister, Brenda Jones; her brothers, Grady Perry and Marvin Perry; and her cherished granddaughter, Madison Pulley.
She is survived by her sister, Faye Tant (Freddie), her two sons, Ashley Pulley (Jessica) and Brian Pulley; her grandchildren, Morgan Smith (Tyler), Taylor Chapman (Ethan), Amanda Evans (Noah), Tyler Pulley, and Emma Pulley; her great-grandchildren, Mila and Gemma Smith, and Dallas and Copeland Evans; and her special friend and partner, Robert Richards.
Janie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
