Ann "Lorel" (Canaday) Shupe Obituary

Ann "Lorel" (Canaday) Shupe, of Crandon, died on January 3, 2026 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital with her husband by her side. She was 76 years old. She was born on January 14, 1949 in Morris, IL, a daughter of Donald Nelson and Marian (Bols) Osmanson. She married Dale Shupe on July 20, 2020 in Crandon.


Lorel was a graduate of Morris High School. She enjoyed the time she spent working at her mother's family restaurant. Lorel was an office manager for Color Portraits, Inc. of Barrington until her retirement.


She was a member of the Flames of Crandon, and supportive of many community causes. Lorel was an avid volunteer at GiGi's Playhouse, as a tutor and program host.


Lorel was a summer person who loved watching and feeding wildlife. She cherished her cat, Daisy, and the time she spent with her Irish Setter, Lucky. She was also a prize winning baker, and was named the 1969 Ms. Cherry Pie of Illinois, earning herself a scholarship to NIU.


In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Heather (Brian) Miller of Janesville and Tanya (Jim) Jarvis of Oswego, IL; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ray H. Osmanson; and brothers, William Osmanson and James Osmanson.
