Born and raised in Hoboken, Mary was educated at Sacred Heart Academy, Hoboken, where she attended from first grade through her graduation as a high school senior. Her strong ties to her hometown remained central throughout her life.

Mary dedicated over 30 years to the real estate profession, serving as a Realtor with Riverside Realty. In addition to her real estate career, Mary was the owner of Mary’s Park Deli, located on the corner of 4th Street and Park Avenue, a neighborhood staple fondly remembered by many.

Her dedication to service extended beyond her professional life. Mary was a member of the HOPES Board and later served as its chairperson, was actively involved with the HUD Hoboken Housing Authority, St. Francis Church, and the YA-YA Sisterhood of Hoboken. In recognition of her contributions to the community, she was honored as Irish Woman of the Year in Hoboken.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fire Captain Dennis Knapp, as well as her parents, Grace (McCurdy) Casler and Raymond Casler, and her sister, Jeanne Ann Casler.

She is survived by her loving family, including her son, retired Detective Sergeant Michael Miranda and his wife Sheila; her daughter, Tracy DeTrizio (Miranda) and her husband, retired Police Captain Michael DeTrizio; and her stepson, Fireman Ryan Knapp and his wife Kristen.

Mary was a proud and devoted grandmother to Police Officer Michael Raymond Miranda, Nicholas Agustin, Mason Antonio Miranda, Michael Gavin, Greyson Alexander Detrizio, and Kayla and Brayden Knapp, and great grandchildren, Logan and Alice Goldfarb and Ryan and Madison Brescher.

She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, and by many dear friends, especially Liz Falco, Fran Lucatorto, Mentor Neima Grandela, and her cherished YA-YA Sisterhood.
