Faye Elizabeth (Holding) Manyak Obituary

A word or two about Faye…..

My Mom, Faye Elizabeth Manyak, passed away today, January 3rd, 2026.  She was 80 years old when she died from complications with Dementia.

Faye was an amazing woman whose passion for teaching and nurturing created many wonderful and meaningful connections with those that knew her.  That passion included a career teaching in the Douglas school system for over 40 years.

Most important, my Mom cherished her family, and her family home at 39 West Street in Douglas. Her compassion and willingness to assist any of her family members was deeply respected and valued by many that had the privilege of calling her Mom, Nana, Wife and Auntie Faye.

Besides myself, Randy, Mom leaves behind her daughter Tami McCrory; her daughter-in-law, Jodi Hooper, and grandchildren Allyssa, Natashia, Brooke, Logan, Katie, Seth and Thea. She was a wonderful sister to Janice, Patty, Clara and Ruta; and was predeceased by her brothers Chuck and Ben. Even after many years apart, Mom still kept a very warm place in her heart for my Dad, Ron.

Mom also enjoyed the privilege of watching her great-grandson, Jack Dude grow these past 7 years and shared all our heartbreak when her great-grandson Jimmy passed.

When I was a teenager, Mom and my Dad took me to see George Winston at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. Besides the experience of hearing such amazing music, I had the opportunity to watch my Mom enjoy the performance, knowing of her love of playing the piano herself. She played wonderfully for many years and a lot of my childhood memories include her making music and singing.

Mom also cherished the Christmas holiday.  From baking cookies with Tami and her grandchildren, to listening to warm carols, Mom embraced Christmas, her favorite time of the year. That love for Christmas was most evident in the incredible collection of Santa figurines that brought her great joy.

Most of all, Mom was a kind and gentle soul. Please keep the spirit of my Mom alive in this world by offering random acts of kindness to those you meet.

In honor of her wishes, there will be no formal services for her burial. Our family will have a private gathering filled with love, wine, good food, and The Beatles.

Much love to all that were touched by Mom’s life!

Silent Night Mom.  We love you.
